starting date; it can be a chron or dates objet, a character string, e.g., "05/23/91", or a Julian date. |

ending date, like from.

either a numeric value or one of the valid strings "days",
"weeks", "months", or "years".

optional number of elements in the sequence. |
a sequence with values (form, from + by,
from + 2*by, ...{}, to) of class
class(from) and origin origin(from).
Note that from must be less than or equal to the argument
to.
